- Price data fetched for 446 models, translated into what one real task costs.
- Twelve model families checked against what each organisation publishes, including licence terms and commercial-use restrictions.
- Eleven coding harnesses verified against the GitHub API. Two were found archived and one repository has disappeared — both noted on the page.
- Every product named in the section now links to the thing itself: runtimes, tools, playgrounds, harnesses and the console where you buy tokens for each provider.
- All 169 external links checked. Four block automated requests and were verified by hand; the rest resolve.
- Three diagrams added: memory requirements, the quantisation trade, and the price spread on a logarithmic scale.
- Every dated page shows when it was last checked, and says so when it has aged past 90 days.
Why this page exists
AI changes weekly, and most writing about it never says when it was written. A page from eighteen months ago reads exactly like a page from yesterday, and there is no way to tell which one you are reading.
So this section dates everything. Every model, every price and every licence here carries the day it was checked, and this page records what actually moved. If nothing has changed in a while, that is visible too — and it is more useful to know than a fresh-looking page that has quietly gone stale.
How the checks work
- Prices are fetched from a public API rather than typed in, so they cannot drift from the source.
- Model families and licences are checked against what each organisation publishes, including the commercial-use terms.
- Tools and harnesses are verified against the GitHub API — licence, popularity, and the date of the last commit.
- Anything older than 90 days says so on its own page.
How often
The intent is every few days for prices and new models, and less often for the explanatory pages, because the concepts move slowly even when the products do not.
